Follow Us to An Early Retirement
Wow! We are up to 1000 hits on our website in the short few months of operation!
And this is just from word-of-mouth; we have no formal advertising, and we are not
even being indexed by search engines yet, since the website is too new.

We have really enjoyed all the comments we received from all of you out in
cyberspace regarding the website. Make sure to bookmark us and check back often;
your viewing helps us get on the road a little faster; we are hoping to get some
sponsors with the increasing support of all our Internet friends.

Our current monthly update is available on the WeRV4Fun homepage, along with a
list of our upcoming trips. Join us if you can!

Happy Travels, The Forrest Family
Spotlight on Chincoteague, Virginia

Ask my family to name one of our favorite
camping spots, and we would have to include
Chincoteague, Virginia.  Granted, Chincoteague
is not a well known major tourist draw like
Williamsburg or Roanoke. But this outwardly
appearing sleepy, backwater town is steeped in
history and legend, and has enough activities to
keep any family busy for a full week-long
vacation.

The name “Chincoteague” is popularly accepted
to be an Indian name meaning “beautiful land
across the water”.  Chincoteague is 37 square
mile island about one mile from the mainland of
Virginia.  The island is connected to the
mainland by a causeway slightly elevated above
a tidal marsh, replete with swooping gulls,
oyster beds, and rocking fishing boats…..

Gas prices have you down?

You may have decided to stay a little closer to home for the your
trips this summer, but to put gas prices in perspective; the cost of a
gallon of gas is only 25 cents more now than it was one year ago.
That means for the average RV or truck pulling a trailer that gets
10 miles to the gallon, you will pay only $2.50 more for every 100
miles you drive. The media says we could be over $4 by the end of
this year. Canada already pays over $4/gallon, so get out and
enjoy our “low” prices while we can!
Recipe of the Month:    Super Easy Fettuccine Alfredo

Ingredients:
  • One-third box Angel Hair Pasta (Barilla Plus is great; it’s lower
carb than regular pasta, but it tastes the same)
  • Grilled Chicken, chopped (great for last nights campfire
    leftovers!)
  • Bag frozen broccoli florets (or asparagus or other veggie)
  • Jar Ragu low-fat white cheese sauce

Simply cook pasta, heat broccoli and chicken in microwave, drain
pasta, and top with other ingredients.

Tip:    Thin out the cheese sauce with a little skim milk to make it go
farther and save calories.

Did you know: veggies in the “fresh” produce aisle may have been
harvested one to two weeks ago? Frozen fruits and veggies are
usually picked and frozen almost immediately, preserving much of their
nutrients. Also, frozen fruit tends to be less expensive pound-for-
pound than their fresh alternatives. Not to mention, they travel better!
And Now, A Word From Our Sponsors:

To defer the cost of our website expenses, we have partnered with several online
merchants who have quality products. By linking to these merchants via our website,
we get credit for purchases.

lights, be sure to look at their products.

one of our new favorite snack foods. Featuring only 100 calories, 6g of fiber, and low
carbs for these muffins and muffin “tops.”  Madi’s favorite is deep chocolate, heated
in the microwave, while Amy’s is corn (just like moist cornbread), and blueberry bran.

What is a Blog and RSS Feed
anyway?

We have added a new feature to
the website; the blog.  Actually
Weblog is the full name for this
“journal” of sorts.  By signing up
for an RSS feed of the blog, you’ll
receive notification when we post
new information on the page.
“Those that say you can't take it
with you never saw an RV
packed for a trip.”

Why do we use a Savings
Thermometer?

We decided to use a visual element
to remind us of why we are:

  • Living in this rental

  • Doing without fancier cars,
    clothes, and vacations

  • Not going to buy that new
    Supernova we want

We printed one from the internet, and
hang it in a prominent place (on the
fridge door).  Yesterday I had Madi
color in the progress we have made,
making it a family affair!
